A DISGUSTING 19 YEAR OLD MALE FROM TORONTO NAMED FRANK. ENJOY THIS WHILE I CAN.
since this sort of thing seems to work here on tumblr, i’m gonna have a go at it.
i have a 12 gauge maverick 91 (aka mossberg 835 utili-mag) with a ported 24” slug-capable barrel that i’m considering adding a laser to. i want it to function not only in distance situations but also in <30 yard arenas off the hip. i installed a 1.5-4.5x scope, so i think i’ll be ok when it comes to distance for now, but i just feel more comfortable with a laser for close-range. a while back, i purchased a magnum barrel mount laserlyte tri-rail weaver mount and decided that i would install my streamlight hi-pressure gas-filled xenon tac light to it. i replaced the forend with a tacstar pistolgrip, and the stock buttstock with a collapsable glass-impregnated nylon stock so i could zero in the eye-relief of my scope.
so here is my question: 532 nanometer green argon or the more common and affordable 650 nanometer red? now, i own an argon laser pointer already that i use when i’m gaffing to point to where i want a light to go and it works great in the daytime. but at night, the beam is visible and i don’t think that would be a good thing for zombies to see. the red lasers are less powerful, but even in light haze or rain the beam origin is less detectable. i know i have room on the mount to install two lasers and a tac light on the tri-rail, but i really don’t want to be fumbling with pressure switches all over the forend. so, considering that i’ll be using the laser mostly for close-quarters situations, should i go with the less powerful but only really viable for night-time 650nm laser, or the high intensity and good for daytime but tracable at night 532nm laser?
i have a 650nm bore-sight that i use to dial my scope, so whatever i get will have to have windage and elevation adjustment capabilities. i also have a four-round side-saddle and a fifty-round bandolier, any other must-haves i should consider? thanks, tumblr users. i know you’ll totally be able to help me on this.
Well, I would have to ask what the ideal use for the firearm is. For indoor home defense, I would have to say that the 650nm would be logical. But if it were any other situation, i would go with the 532nm. I see how the three pressure switches could be confusing, but that would be your best bet. Better safe then sorry.
I think the greater question here should be why use a shotgun? They take long to reload and have a bad rate of fire. I don’t know how accurate shotgun slugs are, but I’d rather have more accurate, weaker bullets towards my enemy at a faster rate rather than having heavy rounds being fired slowly. Of course, this is me assuming your shotgun is a pump/lever-action.
What I’m saying is, get a gun with burst/full-auto action. But don’t see me as a firearm expert. I only know simple functions of most firearms and how some stuff works internally. I’m only 16 after all.
i was initially impressed and amused...overall passive aggressive burn factor towards
For shotgun-range defense I’d definitely...650nm red. You’ll always
the firearm is. For indoor home defense, I...logical. But if it were any other...
