The Terror Brigade is something I created in a less stable state of mind I guess. It’s not a real group of people and if the necessary planets were to ever align for it to become one, its purpose will never be to cause any sort of “harm” or “terror” in the more drastic senses of the word so long as I’m associated with it. It’s more of an idea to me rather than two words put together, but I’ll dissect its meaning by seeing it so.

“Terror” in my definition is the kind of fear that consumes the logical thinking mind, either causing it to act on pure instinct, become “insane”, or maybe even both. It’s a fear that causes people to uncontrollably attempt to repel from its source even though said source is the person’s own mind when you really think of it. Simply put, “Terror” to me is the highest level of delusion and fear combined. I’d rather not think of it in its current popular definition because it disgusts me that we’ve allowed the word “terror” and it’s other forms to define acts of destruction (major or minor) and the group(s) of people that cause them. It’s almost like admitting defeat to a certain degree.

The definition of “Brigade” is obviously less malleable. In the traditional definition, it refers to a group of 3,000-5,000 soldiers according to Wikipedia. That definition is fine and hardly debatable when it’s referring to soldiers in any nation’s military, but in relation to the “Terror Brigade”, I think of it more a simple mass that lacks any sort of genuine individuality. “Brigade” also sounds like an extreme word with an underlying sense of danger to me so it seems to pair perfectly with the word “Terror” as I’ve defined it above.

To summarize what “Terror Brigade” means, I will use some fiction that I’ve been playing around with in my head for a bit.

The Terror Brigade is a group of people whose primary goal, when explained from and external viewpoint, is to strike a genuine and damaging fear into whoever encounters them through any means. Their overtly present abilities, reputation, and existence is entirely inexplicable and amazing, assuming your mind has the strength to be anything but controlled by terror upon the mere thought them. The people that make up the group are of unknown origins and are somehow never thought of individually which adds to their dehumanization. The most terrifying part of the Terror Brigade is that it’s not known whether they intend or strive to wield this power over our sentient humanity. May whatever higher or holy power be strong enough to withstand the infectious fear that may come if that is so.
